 NBSD offers a comprehensive Library Management solution that includes the automation of Book issues (RFID / EM / Barcode), Book returns (RFID / EM / Barcode), Anti-theft security gates (RFID / EM), library usage tracking using Biometrics, Digitization of Library using CD server and Library Access control solution. The level of automation and Cost factors determine the solution that is to be adopted. RFID based Book issues and returns can be fully automated. But the costs involved are significantly higher. EM / Barcode based solution is semi automatic. EM tags have the advantage of lower costs compared to RFID. A barcode-based solution is the least inexpensive and least convenient of the three. Also, theft of books cannot be detected in the Barcode based solution. The Anti-theft security gates are placed at the entrance of the library and detects an Activated RF / EM tag and gives alarm.
All the Library users are enrolled in the PC based Biometric system and their Library usage time is tracked in the system, along with what books they take out. Reports can be generated about the reading pattern of a student, a class, the total hours spent in the library and so on.
Digitization of the Library can be done to maximize the readership of a printed reference material. An electronic copy of the printed material is made and stored on the CD server. The information is available on a network.
